What it does
The Browse Stores page on the Tambrey Village website has a minimal design with great functionality. Behind the simple interface, it’s built for speed, usability, and easy maintenance.
Most visitors want to find a store quickly so ease of use was paramount. The map reflects the centre layout. Each store is clickable and opens a short description, including contact details and opening hours.
How we built it
At Blue Kelpie performance is always a priority. We kept assets small and used AJAX to preload the store data as soon as the user hovers over one of the stores. The result is a fast-loading page that works smoothly on mobile and desktop.
The developers built this page with accessibility in mind. We establish the tabbing sequence with keyboards navigation, button labels and image alt texts. This ensures we meet Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) standards and is accessible for all users.
We created two custom post types (CPTs), one for ‘Lots’ and another for ‘Stores’. The map connects the two, pulling the relevant Store data for a Lot before the user clicks.
The Store content updates are all done in the WordPress backend and don’t require a developer. The build allows the site owner to manage the system easily. This keeps the map useful over time without additional development costs.
