Perth WordPress Developers
Blue Kelpie have been developing for WordPress since 2011. In this time we have worked on a bunch of different development projects from small customisations to systems integrations and specialist plugin development.
The best part about WordPress development work is … everything!
We absolutely love it.
We absolutely love it.
-
Custom WooCommerce development
-
We’ve specialised in WooCommerce Development for more than fifteen years. In that time we’ve developed a lot of custom solutions. If you need to do with a WooCommerce site, there’s a good chance we’ve done it already.
Sometimes it is simply add some custom billing fields or order email configurations. At other times we’re creating shipping plugins or third party system integrations requiring secure data transfers and dynamic product and pricing creation.
-
Third party WordPress integrations
-
Over the years we have developed a number of custom plugins that integrate with third party software such as booking systems, education and training platforms, and government data systems.
A recent example of a third party, WooCommerce integration queries the Australian Government ABN Lookup service and applies the returned data to verify customer data fields.

Custom WordPress plugin development

We absolutely love a challenge, and the learning opportunities that come with them. Blue Kelpie have spent years on various custom development projects. Whether your pulling data from a vendor API, creating a business directory or an education based website Blue Kelpie has got your back.
Custom WordPress development is just one of the things that Blue Kelpie do, but it is almost certainly one of our favourites! We love writing code and finding ways to do things better each time we do them. If you have a WordPress development project, or an idea that you’d like to explore, give us a call, We’re almost certainly as excited about it as you are.

Better performance equals more sales
-
We spend a lot of time looking at the things that make a site slow. Our server runs New Relic’s Application Performance Monitor tool. This is where we get to get super nerdy, studying every aspect of a website’s performance. APM shows us everything, down to the individual PHP functions and mySQL queries to find out where things start to slow down.
The most important metric for SEO and your page ranking is how fast your website loads. More than three seconds to load a page results in a 53% drop off rate. Even dropping from one to two seconds results in 7% reduction in conversions. If you’re turning over $100k in sales that’s a loss of $7,000!
Why we use WordPress Full Site Editing (FSE).
One of the great things that sets WordPress apart from other Content Management Systems (CMS) is the ability for custom development. Whilst it may not be the perfect fit for every solution, a skilled developer is capable of creating many complex solutions. And, many plugins like WooCommerce have been built to allow us developers to make customisations at almost every stage of the online shopping experience. This allows us to customise your store for an even richer user experience.
With new developments, including a shift from PHP focussed to more modern development using React, WordPress is evolving. Keeping up to date is important for developers and Full Site Editing (FSE) is front and centre of the WordPress development journey. It helps that we’re always curious and spend a lot of time learning how we can build you a better website.
