Workshop 38 is a professional space for hire, situated on Ardross Street in the heart of Applecross. Just a short drive from Fremantle and the Perth CBD, Workshop 38 is ideal for meetings, seminars and workshops.
After a number of year of working on the previous Workshop 38 website, owner Fabrizio Bruno trusted Blue Kelpie with the creation of his new site. This started a collaborative design process and, working with Petra from AVA Agency, we set out to create a new elegant website that captured the nuances of a subtle rebrand, moving from green to gold, whilst maintaining a minimal black and white base.
The website needed to present all information about Workshop 38 in an easily accessible site structure where new and existing clients could learn more about the workshop with information about the space, a gallery, FAQs and pricing details. The booking form required all bookings to meet certain criteria including number of guests and a minimum booking time.
Being situated in the heart of Applecross it was also important to portray the strong connection Workshop 38 has with the local community, featuring some of the businesses that share the vibrant cafe strip.
Working with AVA Agency created many opportunities through collaborative design process. With a clean, solid, black and white base we we were able to make good use of the professional photographs to allow the vibrant images to naturally stand out, engaging the site users. Shifting the branding from green highlighted elements to gold added a touch of elegance to the minimal design.
Our attention to detail has resulted in a highly professional finish where the elements on the page flow well with balance and grace. This website highlights the successful collaborative design process with AVA Agency to deliver a successful website that engages site visitors and gets results for Workshop 38.
The Workshop 38 website was a relatively standard WordPress build with the addition of universal elements that could be repeated throughout the site and some custom fields for additional content. A popup was created with iCal integration to show the availability of the space, as pulled from an external calendar.
Some additional work was required for form validation, from a simple to test to ensure the number of guests were not exceeded to a dynamic test which ensured that the duration of the booking request would fall with within the venue’s opening hours.
With a homepage that relies on some large images we delivered the page at 1.9MB which is hosted on our dedicated server with WP Engine and is served with a 2.8 second load time.
We were pleased to deliver the new website for Workshop 38, on time and on budget. Collaborating with AVA Agency was a rich and rewarding, creative process that delivered an elegant website which engages with the end user and captures the high quality of the workshop space as well as the highly sought after address in the heart of Applecross.
The website satisfies all of our performance metrics for page load time, adhering to all modern web development best practices. It is always a pleasure to work with Fab from Workshop 38 and we look forward to a continued working relationship for many years to come.
